Joe Morizzo

BA(Hons), MArch, PGDip, ARB

Morizzo & Co was founded by architect Joe Morizzo, whose work explores how contemporary families live, and how thoughtful design can shape homes and communities with character.

After completing his Masters at the Leeds School of Architecture and graduating to complete his studies at Westminster University in 2017, Joe built experience at acclaimed practices including Surface Architects, NORD, Graeme Williamson Architects, vPPR Architects, and Open Practice Architecture. His portfolio spans residential, educational, and commercial projects - among them the Gin Distillery in Whitechapel, a RIBA London Award winner which was subsequently longlisted for the RIBA House of the Year (2018).

“Great design balances function with joy — it’s what turns a house into a home, and a street into a community.”

PUBLIC PRACTICE A23

Joe joined the Public Practice Autumn 23 Cohort Associate Programme.

As an in-house Architect and Urban Designer at North Hertfordshire District Council, Joe works with the Strategic Planning and Policy teams on major sites across the district, developing a district-wide design code and championing high-quality design within the planning process. His focus is on raising design standards and encouraging creative, practical solutions for developers and planners as the area plans for ambitious growth.

This role offers a valuable opportunity to see how built-environment professionals can support and strengthen public-sector positions on projects, bringing fresh skills and perspectives to local authority teams.
